Wang to start tomorrow, Hughes to 'pen

Wednesday, June 3, 2009

According to both PeteAbe and WFAN, the Yankees are moving Chien-Mien Wang back into the rotation, as he will start tomorrow against the Rangers. CC Sabathia, who was scheduled to start tomorrow, will be moved to Friday.

You knew that Cashman and Girardi were going to move Wang back to the rotation. The guy won 19 games two years in a row and was a Cy Young candidate before he got hurt, so he's proven he can pitch.
Hughes moves to the bullpen in the short term to help shore up one of the Yankees weaknesses. Cashman reiterated that Hughes will be a starter long-term. Besides helping the bullpen, this will help keep Hughes's innings in check, because injuries happen and the Yankees will need him to start again at one point this season.
