Yankees 5 11 0
Red Sox 6 9 0
WP:Wakefield (8-3)
LP: Wang (0-4)
S: Papelbum
PLAYER OF THE GAME: I cannot give player of the game to a Red Sox player again. Blogs are meant to be bias so dammit I am giving it to Mark Teixeira. He went 4-5 with 2 doubles, a HR, and if the guys behind him could get some hits he could ahve scored some very important runs early in the game.
PLAY OF THE GAME: Kevin Youkilis's HR off Hughes. Turned out to be the difference of the game.
TURNING POINT OF THE GAME: Chien-Ming Wang's first two innings. He struggled out of the gates, which at that point, you knew it was going to be a tough outing for him. Once the Red Sox retook the lead in the second inning, it was just a deflating feeling for the Yankees (at least for me).
MICHAEL KAY QUOTE OF THE NIGHT:
We'll stick with a Michael Kay Classic for tonght..."We head to the ninth...Do the Yankees have a rally in their bones for Papelbon? We'll find out!"
Tommorow:
Yankees at Red Sox 7:05 ET Fenway Park
CC Sabathia (5-3, 3.56) vs Brad Penny (5-2, 5.85)
Some thoughts:
Chien-Ming Wang may have been a 19-game winner twice, but at this point him starting games is starting to cost the Yankees wins. You cannot say that a 2.2 IP with high velocity but no control is a good sign. Hughes pitched better out of the bullpen than Wang did to start the game. I am a believer that he is a starter and should be given his shot. But this is strike 2 for Wang. If he cannot pitch well in his next start, you send him to the bullpen and put Hughes in the rotation.
Yankees are 0-7 against the Red Socks. FML. That is the only way I can express myself about that right now.
See Ya!
