YANKEES 12-RANGERS 3

Tuesday, June 2, 2009

Rangers 3 8 0
Yankees 12 13 1

Rangers 30-21
Yankees 31-21

WP: A.J. Burnett 4-2 (7.0 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 8 K, 110 pitches)
LP: Vincente Padilla 3-3 (3.2 IP, 7 H, 7 ER, 4 BB, 1 K, 88 pitches)

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Jorge Posada. Posada went 3 for 4 with 4 RBI’s and two runs scored, including a 3-run homerun in the sixth inning.

PLAY OF THE GAME: Hideki Matsui’s homerun in the fourth that put the game out of reach.

TURNING POINT: Alex Rodriguez’s RBI fielder’s choice that gave the Yankees a 4-3 lead. Mark Teixiera’s hard retaliation slide prevented an inning-ending double play and helped pump the team up a little bit.

NOTES:
Posada’s throwing error in the fourth ended the Yankees record 18 game errorless streak.
Jeter extends his hitting streak to 16 games, while Teixiera’s halts at 14 games after going 0-2.
The Yankees move to 10 games over .500 for the first time this season. According to YES, they did not reach that mark until the 100th game last year.
With Teixiera getting hit twice, and Burnett knocking down Nelson Cruz, who hit a 3-run homer, look to see if there is any carry over for the rest of the series. Each team got a shot in though, so I wouldn’t expect anything.

TOMORROW:
Rangers vs. Yankees 7:05 PM at Yankee Stadium
Andy Pettite vs. Scott Feldman

See Ya!
