PLAYER OF THE GAME: Nick Swisher. Swisher went 2-3 with 2 RBI's on his 12th homerun of the season.
PLAY OF THE GAME: Mark Teixeira's mammoth home run in the bottom of the first inning. Texeira gets closer and closer to reaching the upper deck at the new Stadium.
TURNING POINT OF THE GAME: Johnny Damon's solo home run in the bottom of the sixth to give the Yankees the lead.
GAME NOTES:
- With this win, the Yankees move one game ahead of the Red Sox in the AL East.
- Going 2-1 in this rain-shortened series give the Yankees their eighth series win out of their last nine.
- Mariano Rivera has now pitched 3 days in a row. You have to wonder if that will affect his availability for tomorrow's game. After throwing 21 pitches on Saturday, however, he threw 21 pitches over the last two days.
- After going errorless in 18 straight, they Yankees have now recorded an error in five straight.
- Tonight's game was completed in a very manageable 2 hours and 34 minutes.
