MLB News and Notes

  • Jonathan Papelbon continues to make himself look like a bigger idiot every day. Last year, it was saying he should close the All-Star Game over Mariano. This time, he speaks out against the Red Sox acquiring Billy Wagner. It's stuff like that that makes Yankees fans appreciate the professionalism of Rivera.
  • In the pouring-salt-in-the-wound category, Johan Santana was scratched from his scheduled start because of "discomfort in his pitching elbow." While I had originally thought this was the Mets finally just giving up on the season, the ESPN News bottom line just said that Mets players "expect Santana will require surgery."
  • The Giambino, Jason Giambi has signed a minor-league contract with the Colorado Rockies. He will report to Triple A and hope for a September call-up.

That's it for tonight. Like I said yesterday, it's going to be a rough week for posts and updates as we're both getting to school, but we'll do our best.

SEE YA!
