Can't Always Get What You Want

Yankees 3 8 0
Mariners 10 15 0

WP: Fister (1-0)
LP: Chamberlain (8-3)

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Jose Lopez. Lopez went 3-5 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI.

PLAY OF THE GAME: Derek Jeter's RBI double in the third inning. The hit moved Jeter ahead of Luis Aparicio to become all-time hits leader for shortstops.

TURNING POINT OF THE GAME: Ichiro's seeing eye single with the bases loaded in the seventh. If Tex was playinf first it may have been an out, but it got through and it made a 2-run lead into a 4-run lead and put the game out of reach.

GAME NOTES:

  • The Yankees have won 12 of their last 14 with this loss and are 7.5 games up. Nothing to fret about, they obviously weren't going to win every game from here on out.
  • Since there is nothing else to worry about in Yankeeland we will continue to hear about Joba for the rest of the season and whether or not they are doing the right thing or if he's good enough to pitch in the playoffs. We'll see how he does the rest of the season and pretty much all I'm hoping for is that he and the rest of the team just stay healthy for the remainder of the season. I have no worries at the moment with this team.
