Let's Pray for an AL Central October Matchup: The Yankees are 18-5 against the AL Central this season and 4-1 against the Tigers.
What will he have us talk about tommorow?: Joba Chamberlain gets the start today. In his last seven starts he is 1-1 with a 5.05 ERA. All eyes will be on him because the debate on whether he's a starter or reliever will ever die.
Most Valuable Captain: Derek Jeter has been on fire lately. He is 22 of 51 (.431) with nine runs scored, five RBI, eight walks and a .508 OPB. He has only struck out 4 times in that time too.

UPDATE 2:57: After 3 innings Joba has thrown 53 pitches. Not bad considering he threw 23 in the first inning. No score in the bottom of the third with Swish on first and Melky up at bat.

UPDATE 3:08: Joba just gave up a BOMB to Clete Thomas, who looks like he weighs as much as me (I'm about 150). That was about 10-15 rows up the bleachers.

UPDATE 3:19: A-Rod erases that deficit quickly with one swing of the bat. Now the Yankees have something going with 2 on and 2 outs but its our favorite hitter with RISP, Robbie Cano at the plate.

UPDATE 3:27: Roy Hallladay just pitched a 1 run CG against the Red Sox. Whatever contender gets him HAS to be the favorite to reach the WS in their respective league.

UPDATE 3:32: They gave Granderson a triple??? He doesnt reach third base if not for Nick Swishers inability to play the outfield. And now he hits Polanco. Great.

UPDATE 3:37: Don't know if Miek Francesa will be back tommorow, but if he is Joba is doign a good job, but don't worry, becasue he pumped his fist striking out Thames so that will get him all riled up.

UPDATE 3:40: Al Leiter just said the photographers at Yankee Stadium is a good idea because it is like Disney World. We have been saying the exact same thing about the photographers for the last couple of months. Next they'll have you exit the Stadium through the gift store.

UPDATE 3:56: How about Mark Teixeira? Another second deck shot and it's 2-1 Yankees.

UPDATE 4:14: Joba was freakin dealin' I would have let him finish the inning. But God forbid Girardi has a righty pitch to a lefty late in a game. Joba strikes out 5 of his last 6 batters he faces and did a tremendous job. Hopefully we see more of this the rest of the season.

UPDATE 4:41: Hughes strikes out 2 more batters in the eighth today, and, there may be evidence of him doing a fist pump. It was very subtle, but when 8 of the 9 outs you record over the span of 3 days are strikeouts, you can pump your fist all you want.

UPDATE 4:44: We can now add this to the list of stupid things Michael Kay says: "Good name for a Tiger, Brandon Lyon." (Rolling my eyes)
