Just Another Winn

Monday, May 3, 2010

BAL 1 6 1
NYY 4 6 0

WP: Sabathia (4-1)
LP: Guthrie (0-4)
S: Chamberlain (1)

Player of the Game: Nick Swisher. Swisher has been red-hot of late and continued it that way going 3-for-3 with a double, RBI, and run scored.

Play/Turning Point of the Game: Randy Winn's 3-run home run to break a 1-1 tie and give the Yankees a 4-1 lead and victory. It was Winn's first home run since April 25, 2009.

Notes:

  • I missed everything after the 2nd inning of this game because I had a final exam. I'm pretty confident I did well on it, and when I got out of there around 9:55 I was surprised to see the game was already over.
  • CC Sabathia appeared to pitch another effective game. He went 8 strong innings allowing 1 run, he's looked sharp all season so far, and has continued to be the workhorse who can go deep into games.
  • Jorge Posada left the game early with tightness in his calf. Again, I missed the game and didn't see why or what happened because of this, but it's pretty clear he's a bit banged up.
  • Anybody know why Mariano Rivera didn't pitch? I read some tweets that he felt tightness or soreness in his side after Friday's game. Let's hope it's nothing.

Tomorrow
Yankees vs Orioles 7 p.m.
