Yankees 4 10 0
Twins 3 9 1

WP: Burnett (8-4)
LP: Swarzak (2-3)
S: Rivera (22)

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Mariano Rivera. Mo once again rises to the situation and gets a four out save. The save included a strikeout and getting Joe Mauer to line out to Jeter to end the game.

PLAY OF THE GAME: We could give it to A-Rod's insurance run single in the sixth like YES, but I appreciate some good defense so I'll give it to the diving catch by Joe Crede in the top of the ninth to rob Jeter of a double.

TURNING POINT OF THE GAME: Bases loades, two outs in the bottom of the fifth. A.J. Burnett facing Micahel Cuddyer with the Yankees up by one run. Burnett strikes out Cuddyer to get out of the jam, and also ending the Twins only serious threat the entire game.

GAME NOTES:

  • This was a weird game for A.J. Burnett. I don't know if he didn't have his best stuff, or what, but he went 6.1 innings giving up 7 hits, walking 3, and had 3 wild pitches. Yet, the Twins only scored 2 runs off of him. If Burnett got away with a bad outing because the Twins offense stinks, hey, I'll take it.
  • I'm as die-hard a Yankee fan there is, but these last two games have been pretty boring. There was no excitement yesterday, and until the seventh inning today things were going pretty slow. And you know what? The Yankees havn't hit a home run this series. Maybe that's it.
  • Can we play the Twins everyday? 6-0 against them this year. They have also won 12 of 14.
