4 9 2
2 6 1

Rangers 31-21
Yankees 31-21

WP: Scott Feldman (5-0)
LP: Andy Pettitte (5-2)

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Scott Feldman. Feldman was in complete control the whole game and the Yankees could not get anything going off of him. He got himself out of a huge bases loaded jam in the third and never really got into trouble before or after that. He struck out 5 and gave up 5 hits and 2 ER. He did everything the Rangers could ask for to get the win.

PLAY OF THE GAME: There was really no spectacular play in this game, but we'll give it Elvis Andrus's bare handed play to get Robinson Cano out to prevent the tying run getting on base to end the 8th inning.

TURNING POINT OF THE GAME: Alex Rodriguez's third inning double play. After Pettitte had just buckled down and struck out the side the Yankees had there chance to get back into the game. With the bases loaded, one out, A-Rod could have swung the momentum to the Yankees side. Instead, he kills the only rally the Yankees ever got in the game.

MICHAEL KAY QUOTE OF THE NIGHT:
"I don't know why everyone gets on my case about jinxing no hitters. I didn't jinx Cone. I didn't jinx Wells. And I didn't jinx Gooden."

He is obviously overlooking the 100 other times he has jinxed no-hitters (including today with Beckett, thank God). It's moments like this where I wonder if we should have named the blog The Michael Kay Jinx.

NOTES:
Derek Jeter's 16-game hitting streak was snapped as he went 0-4.
Jorge Posada homered for the second consecutive game.
Brett Tomko threw 3 scoreless innings in relief giving up 2 hits and striking out 3.
The Yankees are now tied for first place with the Boston Red Sox.

TOMMOROW:

Brandon McCarthy (5-2) vs Chien Ming Wang (0-3)

See Ya!
